Spectra G
Smart Residential Revenue Meter – Single Phase
Spectra G is a single-phase GPRS smart energy meter, designed in accordance with NTDC specifications, representing a modern solution for accurate energy measurement and real-time data communication. This advanced metering device integrates GPRS technology to enable seamless remote monitoring, billing, and management, making it ideal for residential and small-scale commercial applications. Engineered to comply with NTDC and international standards, it offers features such as energy theft detection, tamper resistance, and event logging. Its robust design ensures reliable performance in diverse environmental conditions, while its communication capabilities support integration with centralized systems, paving the way for smarter energy distribution and management.
Features & Benefits
- Reliability – Unique simplified sensor design and mechanical construction; no welded joints in terminal blades
- Tamper-resistant design: Records accurately under all known conditions of theft.
- One wire operation: The meter can operate in the presence of any one wire (missing neutral)
- Low starting watts – Captures energy consumption at very low levels
- Low burden – Minimizes utility system losses
- Operates over a broad temperature range (–25°C through +85°C)
- Extended Battery life – Extra low circuit consumption (30mA) ensures longer battery life
- Ease of Installation
- Robust, revenue class highly accurate metering typically measured at < 1.0% accuracy
- Performance meets or exceeds NTDC standards DDS-65:2007, DDS- 98:2011 and DDS-110:2011 (Amended to date)
Revenue Protection
The following anti-fraud features are available to guard against revenue loss or human tampering:
- Meter cover opening indication
- Single Wire Operation (Meter records energy in the presence of any one wire)
- Reverse energy detection, warning and recordings, Unidirectional operation, absolute configuration for total kWh
- Multiple utility-controlled password protection
- Communications record of events for tracking data or program changes
- Phase voltage outage recording for total count and time- date stamp of events
- Immunity against external electromagnetic fields:
The meter provides additional immunity above the levels specified in IEC 62052-11, particularly against gas lighter, or walkie-talkie and is immune to non-sinusoidal waveforms injected in the metering circuit, or large magnet. For all stimuli, the meter does not stop or show any evidence of effect.

The Spectra case assembly is a three piece polycarbonate housing consisting of Meter cover, Base and Base plate. Case has been designed to permanently protect the inner assemblies of the meter. The Meter cover and base plate are ultrasonically welded and cannot be opened without breaking the case. The ultraviolet (UV) stabilized polycarbonate reflects solar radiation, resulting in minimized discoloration and reduced internal heating. The cover is transparent allowing meter LCD and name- plate information to be viewed easily.
Measurement technology, long-life components and special care in the manufacturing process guarantee consistent accuracy and reliability throughout the Spectra meter’s life span. The RAM has power backup supplied by a super- capacitor, which is integral to the meter main board. Lithium battery prevents data and time loss during an extended power outage. Because of low current drain, the service life of the lithium battery is expected to exceed the life of the meter.
Typical Performance Curve
The Spectra G 1-phase smart meter with GPRS represents a leap toward future-proof communication in energy management. By integrating advanced GPRS technology, this meter ensures reliable, wide-area connectivity, enabling seamless remote data transmission and real-time monitoring. As communication standards evolve, the meter’s design can adapt to upcoming IoT and LPWAN protocols like NB-IoT and LTE-M, ensuring long-term compatibility and scalability. This future-ready communication framework supports energy providers in implementing dynamic pricing, demand-response programs, and enhanced grid management, making it a sustainable and forward-thinking choice for smart metering solutions.
